Expertly crafted content, exceptional value
Risk is defined as the ‘effect of uncertainty on achieving objectives’, or more simply ‘any chance of loss’ that a business may incur.
Risks are theoretical, and will always exist – although firms can manage the impact down, the risk will never go away.
Risks can be categorised into a number of sub-types, and in this risk management series we will explore:
Financial risk
Conduct risk
Operational risk
Course duration
This course should take around 30 minutes to complete
Financial risk is the possibility of losing money on an investment or business venture. Some sub-categories of financial risk include credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk. These will be explored in the course. Financial risk can have a profound impact on a firm, its clients, its staff, and the public, so understanding its sources is crucial to mitigating its consequences.
In this course you will learn about financial risk; what the FCA’s expectations are in relation to financial risk; how to meet those expectations, and what happens if financial risks are not properly managed.
This course is part of a series on risk management. You should take this course after you have taken the course on Risk Management: how to meet the FCA’s expectations. Other courses in the series cover conduct risk and operational risk.
This course has been designed to help people understand financial risk through real-life case studies and hypothetical examples. Learners will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding through a test at the end of the course.
Adjustments can be made to suit the needs of your company – please contact us for more information.
