As a leading provider of high-quality eLearning content, we have a responsibility to deliver accurate, relevant content to our learners

Article written by Meg Shona Halpin-Webster, Graduate eLearning Content Writer at Marshalls, a Ciphr company

To deliver high-quality, informative and relevant eLearning, your content has to be up to date. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver relevant content that is regularly updated, ensuring 100% accuracy across any industry. One such example is our range of safeguarding eLearning courses, which are regularly checked and amended by leading experts.

Producing relevant and insightful eLearning courses on a wide range of topics is our speciality – so we know what we’re talking about when we say ensuring training content and resources are continuously assessed for relevancy and updated for accuracy is a necessity.

Why is up-to-date eLearning content so important?

We have a responsibility to deliver accurate, relevant content to our learners. We cover sensitive topics across our courses  – such as sexual harassment, anti-racism, and diversity – and if such content was outdated, we'd run the risk of facilitating organisations to unwittingly partake in incorrect practices or operate against legislation. Here are three reasons why it’s important eLearning content is up to date

To keep pace with our ever-evolving society

Our modern society is driven by development, and we are constantly evolving and adapting to change and progress, both in the digital and physical world. For example, consider the growth of eLearning as a digital resource. It has become the fastest-growing market in the education industry with a global growth rate of 900% since 2000, signifying a change in learning preferences and needs.

To stay compliant

Organisations and institutions, such as universities and corporate companies, have a responsibility to quickly adapt their methods, regulations and best practices to align with the most recent developments of society and their respective industries. If organisations find themselves using outdated, irrelevant and perhaps even inaccurate eLearning content, they run the risk of facing compliance issues – impacting their reputation and overall performance.

To strengthen your position in the field

Reliable and relevant eLearning ensures your organisation remains aware of the latest developments in legislation and societal sentiment. This is important not only for ethical reasons, but also for strengthening an organisation’s position as experts in their field and establishing a competitive edge against less compliant competitors.

Our approach to up-to-date content

We’re strongly committed to delivering eLearning content that's not only engaging, accessible and informative, but also relevant and accurate. Each of our dynamic eLearning courses is regularly checked for accuracy and updated by industry experts to ensure relevancy

A testament to our commitment to collaborating with leading experts to ensure up-to-date content can be seen through our work with the children’s charity Barnardo’s. We collaborated with Barnardo’s to create our child protection eLearning course. Here’s a rundown of the steps we took to ensure our content remains up-to-date for this client:

Research

Conducting research and educating ourselves on the latest safeguarding legislation and advice was the first step of this process. We understand the necessity of tackling a topic, especially one so sensitive as safeguarding, with confidence to deliver the best possible learning experience through our courses. To ensure our content is accurate, accessible and relevant, we work towards developing an understanding of our eLearning content.

Collaborating with experts and the client themselves

As safeguarding is so complex, we couldn’t rely solely on our own research and resources to deliver the highest quality content, which is why we worked closely with Barnardo’s throughout the development and creation of the course. Because safeguarding is such a multifaceted topic, we knew we needed to consult subject matter experts to ensure accuracy.

By working with Barnardo’s, reliable and trusted experts, we knew that the content for our eLearning course was vetted and enhanced by the right people to ensure it was correct and ethically sound.

Maintaining client and expert contact

We pride ourselves on our ability to make long-lasting and efficient connections with industry experts and develop strong relationships with them. Because of this, we can maintain contact with our clients and our experts to determine the latest developments in legislation or societal changes. So if something should arise that demands one of our courses must be updated, we’ll be one of the first to know and the first to act on it.

Customisable content that is relevant to your organisation

Each of our courses is customisable, meaning all organisations have the opportunity to adapt, tailor and update our eLearning content to reflect their ever-changing policies and procedures. Our bespoke approach ensures all content is relevant, relatable, and resonates with the intended audience.

First, organisations must identify the topic of eLearning they require by assessing lacking areas or identifying new goals and priorities. Next, organisations can choose between our offering of a custom or bespoke course to suit their requirements. Unlike a customised course, a bespoke course is typically designed and built from scratch on a unique topic – for example, our carbon literacy course for the University of Exeter. The desired course will then be delivered by our team of in-house instructional designers and developers for the client to use across their organisation.
